Changing Polycom firmware from Lync to SIP

Some of the more recent releases of Polycom firmware support Microsoft Lync integration.  When Lync integration is enabled on the Polycom phones they will not function with normal SIP based platforms, such as Evolution.

Note: This applies only to VVX series devices, including the VVX101, VVX201, VVX300, VVX301, VVX311, VVX400, VVX401, VVX410, VVX411, VVX500, VVX501, VVX600, VVX601
Follow the steps below to change a Polycom VVX from Lync or Skype for Business to Open Standards SIP.

The quickest way to change the Polycom VVX from Lync mode is:
  • From the Idle Screen on the phone:
  • Press and hold on the keypad 1, 4 and 9 simultaneously:

  • Once prompted for the password enter the default password 456:
  • Switch from Lync to Generic to enter the SIP mode, the phone will immediately reboot and return in SIP mode:
